The story

Started in 1992,
still going.

Wondergel started playing in Jakarta in 1992. Back then no all-women band in the city's indie scene had made it into a recording studio, and they were the first. Their self-titled album came out on M Music Production / Musica with four singles that got radio play. They stopped in 2000, then met again on stage at a reunion show in 2017 after 17 years apart. Meita and Diah have carried the band as a duo ever since.

Four singles off that album, Cermin, Pesona Indah, I Miss You, and Jalan Yang Sama, were in regular rotation on Jakarta radio. Pesona Indah later became the theme song for the film Bunyi Hujan di Atas Genting.

1992
Started in Jakarta
Meita Kasim put Wondergel together and the band grew up around Poster Cafe. No all-women band in that scene had a record yet, so they were the first.
1995
Diah Rijanti joins
Guitar and vocals added just as the band began working towards a record.
1997–98
Self-titled album
A full album on M Music Production / Musica. Four of its songs made radio: Cermin, Pesona Indah, I Miss You, and Jalan Yang Sama.
2000
The band stops
They stopped playing. The songs kept circulating, and Pesona Indah was used as the theme for the film Bunyi Hujan di Atas Genting.
2017
Wondergel and Friends Reunion
A reunion show at JK7 Kemang on 12 August 2017, 17 years after their last one together. Kartika Jahja, Damon Koeswoyo, and Pestolaer joined them on stage.
2019
Carrying on as a duo
The line-up is down to Meita Kasim and Diah Rijanti. The single Di Bangku Taman came out on 29 March 2019.
2020–25
One release after another
The Guiding Lights (2020), Warik (2021), the old album onto streaming (2021), Manusia Bebas (2024), then Teman Baik (2025).
2025
Back on stage
Festival de Mayo at Glitz Inclusive in June and BritPop Calling vol. 2 at Glamz Antasari in July, sharing a bill again with Rumahsakit and Pestolaer.
